If you are buying on CIF terms, our advice to you in the current market is be careful! We are seeing ever increasing examples of goods arriving on so called CIF “prepaid” terms only for our customers to be stung with inflated charges on arrival to basically rebate back to China uneconomic freight rates. In many instances the shippers have paid ZERO freight rate - and guess who ends up paying this in the end - yep, you’ve got it - the U.K importer. Don’t let it happen !

From Jan 1st 2009, DTI surveillance Licences will be removed. This applies to many Garments and textile commodities from China and is referenced in DTI ‘notice to Importers No. 2767’.
U.K Terminal Handling
Since the end of some of the Line conference arrangements, UK terminal charges for full containers have increased from GBP 69.00 to GBP 105-130 range.
